Oh no. This is not me; I can’t believe I went back into the act I promised myself not to indulge in anymore. I started smoking again. Sammy cried as he relayed the story to Mr. Counsellor.
Mr. Counsellor calmed Sammy and asked a few questions from him
- Have you asked God for Forgiveness?
God said in his word that whosoever call upon his name shall be saved (Rom. 10:13). Don’t condemn yourself, He still loves you. … while you are yet a sinner He sent His Son to a death sentence in your place, not to talk of when you have been saved before and making a mistake of going back (Rom. 5:8 paraphrased). He still wants to fellowship with you1. He said in Isaiah 1:18: Come now, let us reason together, though your sins are as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red as crimson, they shall be as wool.
Shall we pray Sammy?. Yes, Sammy replied
Dear God, thanks for your love, thanks for the Holy Ghost that has convicted your son of his sins. Thanks for always seeking us to come back to the fold. Your son sincerely asks for forgiveness today. Please forgive him
- Did you believe that you are forgiven?
Do you know that the son of man has the ability to forgive you all your sins and wash you clean by His blood? He is the good shepherd. He leaves 99 sheep to search you through. Christ has the power in heaven and earth to forgive men of their sins and diseases. When he washes, he washes clean. By faith, you must believe that you have been made whole, for whoever the son of man sets free is free indeed.
- Did you know how God sees you?
He sees you as a dear son, you have been made a new creation yet again, clean and whole, your former deeds He remembers no more (Isa 43:25; Heb 8:12). Therefore rejoice, enter into the throne of grace with boldness and start to relate with God your father again.
