The Nigerian international passport is issued in three different categories or types, which are:
- Standard e-Passport: This is the most common type of Nigerian international passport, and it is valid for five years. It comes in two categories – 32-page and 64-page booklets. The 32-page booklet is issued to individuals for personal use, while the 64-page booklet is issued to frequent travelers who require more space for visa stamps.
- Official e-Passport: This type of passport is issued to Nigerian government officials who are traveling on official business. It is valid for five years and is not transferable to another person.
- Diplomatic e-Passport: This type of passport is issued to Nigerian diplomats, top government officials, and their spouses and children. It is valid for five years and is not transferable to another person.
All three types of Nigerian international passports are machine-readable and contain a microchip that stores the passport holder’s biometric information, including their fingerprints, photograph, and signature.
